Is Shiny Object Syndrome Killing Your Real Estate Business?

The struggle for consistency is real. Shiny object syndrome is everywhere and countless real estate agents fall prey to it every day looking for the holy grail. Experts say you must do the same thing long enough to be successful. In some cases that may be six months, nine months, or possibly one year to gauge if our strategy is actually working.

On today's episode of the Massive Agent Podcast, host Dustin Brohm explains how we are shooting ourselves in the foot and completely killing any momentum by pivoting from our marketing strategies too early. Dustin reminds us that often we pivot for the wrong reasons. By doing so, we turn away from our current strategy before we have a chance to gather any success metrics. Admittedly in this day and age we have microwave mentalities, which means we've grown accustomed to having everything fast. Dustin even shares his own struggles with being a visionary and working toward discipline.

Finally Dustin discusses the switch cost. Pivoting means starting over and there are costs associated with abandoning current strategies to start something new. If what we’re doing isn’t working there are some key questions we should ask ourselves:

  • Is it our strategy or, just our implementation?
  • Could we keep the strategy but adjust the content?
  • Are we actually following up with the leads that are coming in?
  • Have we gathered the opinions or feedback from others that we trust?

If we are going to be successful we must focus on chasing one strategy at a time or we risk not being successful at any of them. It’s time for a gut check Massive Agents! Ask for constructive criticism, stop chasing sunshiny objects, and push ourselves into growth mode.
