#VaynerGate – Gary Vee started a firestorm within the real estate industry w/his comments on homeownership. Was he taken out of context, or is he just wrong?

Realtors everywhere are taking to Facebook and Twitter to profess their outrage and newly found hatred for Gary Vee ever since a short 60 sec video clip was posted on social media the other day. In it, Gary Vee says that buying a home is bullshit, that it ties up upfront capital, and it just a bad idea that he wishes he had personally never done.

In some the largest Facebook Groups for real estate agents, you can practically hear the collective panties bunching up. Apparently, according to the most vocal (and whiny) real estate agents, it's ALWAYS wise to buy a home versus rent. 100% of the time.

But is that really true? Is Gary Vee right? Is buying a home no longer a wise investment? Should our clients always be advised to buy rather than rent?

This week, we're going to have an honest, adult conversation about homeownership. If the thought of a Realtor advising someone to rent triggers you, then consider this your trigger warning!

Owning a home can be one of the greatest decisions, and can be a huge blessing to a family. But, in some situations, it's not the best option. Let's talk through this as adults, putting aside our desire to get a paycheck, and actually think of whats best for our clients for once.
