Should Realtors be using TikTok? Or will it just hurt their credibility?

Pause your eye rolling for a minute, and consider this; should real estate agents be using TikTok? Gary Vee sure thinks so. Apparently, thousands of agents do too. Unless you've been living under a rock for the last 6 months, you've no doubt seen TikTok being talked about everywhere, and seen the short, creative videos shared pretty much everywhere. However, the vast majority of Realtors that I speak to just roll their eyes at the thought of using TikTok for Real Estate Agents to grow their brand and in turn, their business.

Spend a few minutes following real estate related hashtags on TikTok and you'll see that real estate agents everywhere are jumping onto the platform in an attempt to grow their brand. As they should! 3 or 4 years ago, when Snapchat was just catching on, and it was a hot topic in the among real estate agents, I jumped in and embraced it. It took me a few weeks of just watching before I really understood how I could use Snaps to brand myself and grow an audience. However…

Real talk. Many of these Realtors on TikTok right now are damaging their brands by acting like complete jackasses and clowns. Or equally as bad, they post the exact same boring shit on TikTok that they do on all the other platforms. Seriously, they just post the same lame listing walkthrough video on TikTok that they did on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube… and then they wonder why “TikTok doesn't work” for them.

Luckily, this week we're talking with someone who TikTok absolutely does “work” for. We're joined by Parker Pannell, a 16 year old TikTok star with 1.3 million followers, and he shares his ideas on how Realtors can be using TikTok to grow their brand and sell more homes. But Parker also tells us what not to do. As the son of a long-time Realtor in Kentucky, Parker Pannell has a unique perspective and very interesting insight to share.

Still confused as to how you, as a Realtor, can use TikTok to grow your real estate business? Awesome. Me too! I'm still trying to figure it out myself. This episode was meant as an introduction to TikTok for Real Estate Agents, so hopefully you walk away with a better understanding of how the platform works, and why it's growing so fast.

Now you need to actually go watch how TikTok works. Record some videos. Play with the editor and the interface. Then when you feel ready, post some stuff. Like every other social network, TikTok is a platform that you can only learn by doing.
